Hajer Smadah (Tunus)

A north African poetess , hails from Tunisia . A descendent of a poetic family (father and uncle) She was born in December 18, 1971 in Tunisia . She   studied at Manouba Faculty of Arts , English Department , Tunis, Tunisia. She obtained her Maitrise in English language and literature in 1998 from Manouba Faculty. An English teacher  as well as a translator (French and Arabic).

Now she has been teaching as an English teacher for 19 years. She taught in many secondary schools.

She is a poet and writes in three languages: English, Arabic and French. She is also a translator.

Along with Indian contribution , a book has come into existence , entitled ‘Eternal Showers’ which is a North-African Indian Poetry edited by Manminder Singh Anand.

She participated last November in ‘The International Poetry Festival’ held in Tozeur , Tunisia.

In last April , she participated as well in ‘The International Alyssa Poetry Festival For Creative Women’.

She as well took part in ‘ Carthage Poetic Days ‘ in The Culture Town in Tunis.

The last and not the least, she took part in Sindeyena Theater.

She got many awards in the previous mentioned festivals.

A member of a cultural association in Tunisia that holds  international poetry female festivals in Tunis, Tunisia .

 

BLURRED VISION

 

When things get confused

To my mind and heart

When now fuses with then

When time stops and be again

Within your time span

Everything takes a shape

To launch a new beginning

Like dawn before morning

Like a flower blossom

Like a rain in a remote desert

Is your love sprouting deeply inside…

Between my ribs and my dying heart..

SPREAD LOVE AND LİGHT AROUND 

 

Let me spread love all over that noble land

Let everyday be a sunshine over desperate souls

Where bloom supersedes gloom

Rejoice life’s beauty and glamour

Unity and light are my supporting delight

Hope and ambition are my guide

Unrelinquinched I will remain prone to life’s abrupt change

But within deep my soul there still exists that unfathomable beaming light

Like a butterfly I will fly deep high

Rejoicing spring flowers and bright sky

Following its fluttering tiny wings

Tasting life’s savour

Inhaling purity and untainted air

NUANCED COLOURS

 

That work of art I adore

Depicts the many colours when life is sore

Though at one abrupt glance I could discern what lies beyond

It’s beauty in its full incarnation

Cheerfulness and sublimation

The white and black

The blue and the pink

Separable yet , in unison they melt

It’s what comes in between parentheses

Birth and death

Divinity in essence

The various colours that touch my serenity and wholeness

I remain faithful at dark and bright
